Finishing Trades Workforce Development Committee

The Finishing Trades Workforce Development Committee (FTWD) is dedicated to advancing the goals outlined in the 3C00 Executive Order to increase women's participation in the construction industry. Currently, the federal target for female labor utilization is set at 6.9 percent of total work hours across all construction sites managed by a contractor, regardless of the specific location of federal or federally assisted contracts.

Our Purpose:

The FTWD Committee was established to support and promote women in the construction trade as a rewarding and viable career path. Our mission centers on:
  • Advocating for the welfare and interests of the framing contracting industry and its members.
  • Providing a unified voice to deliver essential resources for fostering trade growth.
  • Raising awareness of career opportunities within the construction industry.
  • Facilitating professional development for signatory contractors.
  • Expanding market share and elevating the reputation of the construction sector overall.

Our Mission:

The FTWD Committee is dedicated to increasing contractor awareness and recruitment rates for women in the construction trades. Our overarching mission is to enhance the representation of tradeswomen in Northern California and beyond. To achieve this, we focus on:

Engaging in Outreach Initiatives
Communicating the value and advantages of union construction careers to women considering a future in construction.

Strengthening the Competitiveness of Unionized Construction
Supporting the industry’s efforts to recruit and retain women while preserving work opportunities and enhancing competitiveness.

Promoting Union Construction as an Attractive Career Choice
Emphasizing the many benefits of a career in union construction to inspire more women to pursue opportunities in the field.
